Atlassian JIRA/Confluence Cloud Migration Specialist
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Atlassian JIRA/Confluence Cloud Migration Specialist to lead our transition from Atlassian Data Center to the Atlassian Cloud platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Atlassian products (specifically JIRA and Confluence), strong technical expertise in data migration, and proven experience handling sensitive data in regulated environments. You will be responsible for ensuring a seamless and secure migration of all existing functionalities—including automations, SLA measurements, workflows, and custom applications—to the cloud.
Migration Planning and Execution
Assess current JIRA and Confluence Data Center environments (including approximately 180 JIRA users, 100 Confluence users, and ~20 JIRA projects).
Develop a comprehensive migration plan for moving data, automations, and custom configurations to the Atlassian Cloud.
Coordinate timelines, resources, and milestones to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Data Analysis and Transfer
Identify data storage locations and confirm methods for secure data extraction and import.
Execute safe data export/import procedures for JIRA and Confluence, ensuring integrity and completeness.
Verify that sensitive medical data meets security and compliance requirements throughout the migration process.
App Integration and Compatibility
Review and validate compatibility of current apps and scripts (such as Secure Login (2FA), Scroll Version, eazyBI, Zephyr Squad, etc.) with Atlassian Cloud.
Work closely with stakeholders to replace or update applications that are not compatible with the cloud version.
Maintain or replicate key automations, SLA metrics, workflows, and scripts in the cloud environment.
Technical Troubleshooting and Support
Investigate and resolve technical issues that arise during and after the migration.
Provide guidance on performance optimization and best practices for Cloud-based JIRA and Confluence.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate JIRA and Confluence with other systems, leveraging SQL skills when needed.
Stakeholder Communication and Training
Liaise with cross-functional teams (IT, Security, Compliance, etc.) to ensure migration requirements are fully addressed.
Offer post-migration support and training to relevant users and administrators, ensuring they are comfortable with new cloud functionalities and processes.
Technical Expertise:
Proven track record with Atlassian ecosystem (JIRA, Confluence) migrations from Data Center to Cloud.
In-depth knowledge of JIRA automations, scripts, SLA configurations, and workflow customizations.
Familiarity with common Atlassian apps and plug-ins (e.g., Scroll Version, Zephyr Squad, eazyBI, Bulk Clone Professional).
Solid understanding of data export/import procedures, data integrity, and secure data handling.
Working knowledge of SQL for data queries and integrations.
Project Management & Communication:
Experience creating and managing detailed project plans with clear timelines and deliverables.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex technical issues independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Security & Compliance:
Ability to handle sensitive medical data within strict regulatory frameworks.
Understanding of two-factor authentication (2FA) solutions, security best practices, and data privacy regulations.
