Lead DevOps

We are seeking experienced Lead DevOps to join the team and lead DevOps team in this initiative.
Our client is one of the largest companies in the electric power industry in US with a wide representation of offices in the state of California
Our client has a need to modernize and optimize infrastructure and deployment processes.

Employment Type: Full-time

Preferable location: West US states in PDT (better Southern California)

Responsibilities
  • Develop, build, test, and deploy DevOps tools to create consistent, verifiable, and automatic management of application and infrastructure within the Grid domain.
  • Work on the CI/CD deployment by collaborating with cross-functional teams including domain architects, application, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and other subject matter experts. Requires coming up to speed rapidly with the SCE organization and key stakeholders.
  • Design and implement tool integration with existing tools such as Remedy, Splunk, etc. within the DevOps platform.
  • Gather and analyze requirements and develop test plans for solution validation.
  • Review and enhance comprehensive best practices and setup process standards for maintenance and operations of the DevOps frameworks.
  • Train and guide the team with streamlined DevOps best practices.
  • Support onboarding and operations of client applications that will utilize the DevOps platform for their Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.
  • Develop and publish monthly metrics and reporting to measure efficiencies and overall DevOps Platform cycle improvements.

Qualifications

 

  • 5-7+ years of experience implementing/maintaining DevOps platforms within large, complex business environments. 5-7+ years of experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Jira, Git, Nexus, Tosca, SonarQube, etc.
  • 7+ years of experience interfacing, collaborating, and negotiating with team members, all levels of management, different departments, and vendors to develop solutions, facilitate cooperation between different parties, and obtain stakeholder buy-in. Ability to analyze complex data and draw accurate and relevant conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience leading discussions involving senior level technical SMEs from Application and Infrastructure teams.
  • Demonstrated experience as a technical Player/Lead – Hands on the keyboard engineer who pulls work 50% of the capacity and 50% as a technical mentor for the other engineers
  • Ability to classify maintenance work vs project work, accurately estimate them
  • Determine robust support models to define intake, refine runbooks for version updates, patches, break-fixes, bug-fixes, deployment windows across QA and Prod…
  • Create and Maintain operational plan with SLAs, planned / unplanned outage communications. KPIs…and help set that up.
  • Agile, collaborative and consultant mind-set who can play well with the team, meet where the client is currently and ability to evolve their DevOps platform over time.
  • Jira Administration Experience (onboarding new people, upgrades, non-cloud based administration)
  • Testing tools that is a plus to be helpful with, again as an admin not as a test engineer who will write scripts for:
  • IBM OPTIM and Virtual Data Pipeline
  • Tosca
  • Plutora
