Position Overview
REW is seeking an experienced EDE SharePoint On-Prem Engineer to provide proactive engineering support, infrastructure optimization, and incident prevention for enterprise customers using SharePoint Server (2013/2016/2019) in on-premises or hybrid environments.
As part of REW’s Enhanced Designated Engineering (EDE) offering, you will work closely with customers to design, deploy, and optimize SharePoint On-Prem solutions, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role goes beyond troubleshooting—it involves proactively identifying risks, streamlining governance, and improving the scalability and maintainability of SharePoint On-Prem infrastructure.
As a trusted advisor, you will assist customers with SharePoint migrations, farm architecture planning, database optimization, backup/recovery strategies, and compliance enforcement. Additionally, you will provide direct feedback to Microsoft’s SharePoint product teams to help enhance SharePoint’s on-premises capabilities.
This is a remote-friendly position with flexibility to work from home.
SharePoint Infrastructure Engineering & Optimization
Guide customers in designing, deploying, and maintaining SharePoint On-Prem farms for high availability, scalability, and performance.
Assist in SharePoint hybrid deployments, enabling seamless integration with SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Azure services.
Optimize SQL Server configurations, indexing, and storage strategies to improve SharePoint performance and reliability.
Implement SharePoint backup and disaster recovery (DR) strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and data protection.
Configure and maintain SharePoint Search, Managed Metadata, and Business Connectivity Services (BCS) for enhanced enterprise content management.
Security, Compliance & Governance
Harden SharePoint security by implementing role-based access control (RBAC), authentication mechanisms, and network security best practices.
Ensure compliance with data retention policies, regulatory frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA), and eDiscovery requirements.
Assist in configuring Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS), Kerberos, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) for SharePoint authentication.
Develop and enforce SharePoint governance policies, ensuring proper usage, site provisioning, and lifecycle management.
Incident Prevention & Performance Monitoring
Conduct proactive health checks, security audits, and performance assessments for SharePoint On-Prem environments.
Optimize SharePoint logs, ULS logs, event tracing, and monitoring tools to detect issues before they impact business operations.
Implement PowerShell automation scripts for bulk administration, farm monitoring, and task automation.
Assist customers in upgrading or migrating SharePoint environments, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth transitions.
Collaboration with Microsoft & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with Microsoft’s SharePoint product engineering teams to provide feedback on on-prem and hybrid SharePoint enhancements.
Participate in early-access preview programs and customer pilot initiatives to validate new SharePoint features.
Contribute to best practice documentation, internal knowledge-sharing, and SharePoint governance strategies within REW.
Customer Engagement & Technical Leadership
Act as a designated SharePoint On-Prem expert, providing customers with technical guidance, best practices, and long-term strategy recommendations.
Lead technical workshops, training sessions, and architecture review discussions for enterprise SharePoint administrators.
Work closely with IT administrators, security teams, and business stakeholders to align SharePoint capabilities with business needs.
3+ years of experience in SharePoint administration, infrastructure engineering, or system architecture.
Strong expertise in SharePoint On-Prem (2013/2016/2019) architecture, farm design, and maintenance.
8+ years working with MS Technologies
English: B2+ or higher
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical end users, ensuring a smooth and efficient resolution of issues.
Experience with SQL Server optimization, database tuning, and SharePoint storage planning.
Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting for SharePoint automation, backup/recovery, and administration.
Knowledge of SharePoint security hardening, authentication models, and access control.
Familiarity with Windows Server, IIS, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals related to SharePoint deployments.
Experience with SharePoint hybrid configurations and integration with Microsoft 365 services.
Ability to learn fast.
Preferred qualifications
Microsoft Certifications (e.g., MS-101: Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security, AZ-104: Azure Administrator Associate, MS-700: Managing Microsoft Teams).
Experience with third-party SharePoint migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Metalogix, AvePoint).
Knowledge of Azure AD, AD FS, Kerberos authentication, and MFA configurations for SharePoint.
Experience implementing enterprise content management (ECM) strategies and taxonomy development.
Familiarity with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for SharePoint farms.
